Week 11 SAT Words

Longevity (n.) - long life
Long life, in long-evity. I also see the word eternity in longevity.
Malevolent (adj.) - wishing, or cursing someone, hostile; wishing evil. If a person is a male and violent, then they are malevolent. This is different from other definitions because this word refers to the desire for harm, not the actually harming someone.

Malignant (adj.)
- harmful, causing harm or suffering. Malignant cancers can spread into large and crucial organs, thus it is dangerous and harmful.
Mandate (n.) - command that is ordered through authority. Mandate has the word "man" and "date" in it, which can be interpreted to be like a man serving or ordered to do something in the specific time or date.

Meme (n.) - within a culture, an idea, behavior, or style that is used repetitively. Memes are everywhere, but I do not believe that everyone understands the meaning of it. However, the only thing that they understand about memes are the fact that they all are about me me me me me me me me me.

Mundane (adj.) - ordinary, banal. I see the word Sundae in Mundane, which are usually very tasty and delicious. However, changing "S" to "M" makes it boring, also that fact that Mundane sounds like Monday.

Nadir (n.) - lowest point; an extreme state of adversity. Not-a-dear, but an adversity. It also sounds like a Hindu word, for Nadir Shah, which has no relevance, but it can help me to remember this word.

Nefarious (adj.) - wicked and immoral. The first time I saw this word was at Dictionary.com's Word of the Day, and I have remembered it ever since. Also, it reminds me of the word infamous, for they have similar definitions and the a game I like called Infamous.

Nepotism (n.) - showing favoritism to a relative in order to bring them into power, especially in jobs. Ism makes the word sound like a practice of some sort, and Nepo sounds like Necro, or having to do with death. Due to the fact that it is not Necro, but Nepo, it makes the word sounds lively and happy with the family. Playing Favorites: TIMES Article

Nonchalant (adj.) - calm, casual, not caring.
Whatever chalant means, it sounds Frenchy and super sophisticated, in pronunciation and in French culture, thus, non-sophisticated-and-Frenchy-chalant means not complicated and calm, simple.

Are you a Psychopath or Sociopath?

Are you a Psychopath or Sociopath?
To answer this question, we must define what makes a Psychopath and a Sociopath.

Psychopath

Psychopath has the word Psych in it, and usually, this word means to do with the brain. Thus, we can infer that psychopaths have something to do with the brain and mental functions. In psychology, psychopaths are people whom do things without emotions, or in other words without caring about the morality of the task. Furthermore, Psychopaths have a tendency to do whatever they want in anyway possible (usually the most complex, but efficient) to get what they want. For example, large business owners are usually psychopaths because they will do anything to get rich. Not only that, they do not care how they do, or who they may affect if they do something this way. They are manipulative and can hide their emotions cleverly. They do not have random outbreaks and they are usually very manipulative and secretive. You cannot identify if a person is a psychopath or not.

Sociopath

Sociopaths has the word Social in it, and usually, this word means having to do with the environment and the people around you. Thus, we can infer that sociopaths have something to do with physical functions. In sociology, sociopaths are people that cannot control their emotions, or in other words they cannot control their reactions towards something. Furthermore, Sociopaths are people whom usually stands out, and can be easily identified. For Instance, children with abusive parents are usually sociopaths, because whatever their parents do to them, they may do it to other children or weaker children. They do not care about the consequences, for sociopaths, have tendencies to grasp immediate revenge on someone, usually aggressively. Sometimes, determining on the episodes of the person, sociopaths may regularly have outbreaks and get very excited to harm someone.

Week 10 SAT Words

Jargon (n.) - language term particulary specified in a subject
Jargon sounds like dragon. However, since I am not a hardcore nerd and LOTR fan, I may not know the different types of dragon names and perhaps, one named Jargon. Part Jar part gon?
Come at me SAT!!!!!!

Jeopardy (n.)hazard, danger, risk
I know this word since the day that I played JEOPARDY! But what if I cannot remember? I would be in big trouble and one point will be taken off the quiz.

Jubilation (n.) - a feeling of great happiness or triumph
This word reminds me of the word juvenile, which means children. Although children are sometimes sad, most times, they are carefree individuals and they do not have such pressure put upon them. In other words, they are happy.

Judicious (adj.) - having to do with judges and being judged upon
The word judge can be found in the word judicious, so it has involovement with judges, pertaining law.

Jurisdiction (n.) - the power or authority one has over another involving the law
Jurisdiction also has the word judge in it (I can see it, don't ask), and diction usually refers to the state of having something (at least that's what I think), so Jurisdiction means the judge has something from you.

Kibosh (n.) - nonsense, stop from happening or developing
What kind of word is kibosh? Who uses this? The English word makers need to stop making these random and unusable words.
Why did they stop this program?!?!?!

Laconic (adj.) - using few words to express
It's either lack of "onic" (and somehow onic means words) or if someone is lactose intolerant, and drinks milk, with very few words, they should storm to the bathroom.

Languish (v.) - to become or get weak, feeble through grief
Languish has the word anguish in it, meaning suffering pain.

Largesse (n.) - generous gifts, in large quantities
Largesse has the word large in it and gesse reminds me of the word generous. Generous greatly.

Lethargy (n.) - state of feeling drowsy and lazy, dull and inactive
Lethargy seems like a misspelled leathery which is the kind of textile you would sleep on a car, especially my dad's, because it is super comfy.

Week 9 SAT Words

attribution in cleaning the house
Impute (v.) - to attribute to something.
attribute and impute mean the same thing. Pute sounds like it means to scorn something, but added with "im" is the opposite of pute, therefore it is to care about something and attribute to it.

Incompatible (adj.) - unable to work together.
Not compatible, and compatible means to work together, this word is pretty straight forward, you will understand.

Inconsequential (adj.) - little or no relevance, and importance.
not crucial or consequent, meaning that there is nothing following and nothing important.

Inevitable (adj.) - unable to get away from, unavoidable.
It is inevitably difficult to miss words Brobdingnagian and widely-known literature. I first came with contact with this word in The Giver.

Inflation (n.) - a rise in prices due to large amounts of the the general item.
Inflation was cause by the abundance of gold being sent into Spain during the post-Columbian era, where the Spanish colonists settled in the New World.
Pieces of Eight

Innocuous (adj.) - plausibly harmful or injurious.
The hard shell of the Cocoon protects the fragile butterfly during metamorphosis. The butterfly is safe because it's in-a-cucoon.

Integrity (n.) - one's moral character, honesty.
This word has filled my life, because people are often in search of men that will not be bought or sold. Honestly  I do not believe that they are such men.

Intrepid (adj.) - fearless, dauntless, and adventurous.
Trepid means to fear and to be timid, thus, intrepid means to be fearless and intimid, not scared.

Intuitive (adj.) - instinctive in the person or mind.
The word at first sounded like tuition, which I thought meant money that students pay to the school for education. However, "in" tuition means without getting education for another source, but from one's self.

Ironic (adj.) - characterized by irony, where something intended is opposite or completely different from the outcome.
Irony has been the whole topic of English I, and now in English II it is ironic for Mr. Webb because he is explaining Irony so thoroughly, unknowing that we students have understood it.

THE SUICIDE NOTE

Mother,Father, I love you both. I know that I have not been the best son that you expected me to be, so I want to say I’m sorry. I want to donate my possessions to charity, for I know that there are many people in the world that are more in need of it than me. I have a car a beautiful one that I want to give to you guys. I hope you can take good care of it and drive it safely. I write this with tears dripping down my chin and I sincerely want to apologize for not living up to your expectations. I have not done anything noteworthy. I confess I was the one that broke your beloved porcelain sculpture, and blamed it on Rover. Please do not let your grief destroy your lives like how it destroyed mine.Live and prosper, or you will end up like me.

Two days ago, I met a man, unknowingly served him, and destroyed the very company that I work for. For this, my boss fired me and sued me. I am now left with the only things in my apartment. I was sued by my company for fraud, treason, and revealing confidential information. I do not have the money to hire a good lawyer, so trial sentenced me for at least 30 years in prison, and a fine of half a million dollars. I cannot stand prison, and I cannot obtain that kind of money or place the burden onto you guys. I have failed to be a civil person in society. I am sorry mom and dad; I hope you can forgive me. I want to apologize to the world too, may my absence make it a better place. Goodbye.

THE TRANSACTION

This morning as I headed for work, I received a package with a letter sent by Mr. Chris. Inside, there was a shiny key, likely a car key, for it had a silver peace sign at the body of the key. Also, the letter wrote:
"To a diligent man, needing of motivation, here is a gift from me to you." ~Mr. Chris.
I was really excited, so I trotted downstairs forgetting my suitcase, which I ran back up to get. Outside, a shiny black Mercedes parked elegantly along the curb glistened in the sun. It was too much, so instead, I walked as usual to work. I didn’t want to see Mr. Tien so I directly went into the conference storage room, and located the file Mr. Chris was looking for. Immediately, I left the building and went to the place where Mr.Chris and I were going to meet up. I was bliss, so I called my mom and told her how much I loved her. She asked if I was on drugs.

At noon, Mr. Chris arrived at the corner of Luck Avenue and Lust Road where I was waiting. It was unusually windy and it began to drizzle. He greeted me and ask show I was doing and I replied and asked the same. Then I gave him the files, he opened the files and skimmed through them, thanking me as he left without a word. After that, I didn’t go back to work; Mr. Chris had made my day and I didn’t want to ruin it again. I headed home, feeling pretty good about myself and I saw color. The dullness of my life seemed to pass away, colors shot out from buildings and it seemed as if my life had been fulfilled. At night, I ate at my favorite restaurant and ordered my favorite but pricey meal. Ah, it was just like my mother’s cooking, perfect and delicious.

THE FORTUNE

I bumped into the Mr. Chris this morning, a CEO of a rival company called Webb Industries;well technically he bumped into me. I was walking into the office when he spilled my coffee into my shirt. He offered to get me a new shirt and coffee, but I refused. However, he insisted, told me to “hang out” with him and said that he’d covered for my absence today at work. Honestly I needed a shirt and that was one of the only two that I wore for the last two years. For the first time in 5 years, I began to smile again. Why can’t Mr. Tien be so nice like Mr.Chris? Anyways I hopped onto his limousine and there were wine glasses,Champagne on ice, and my favorite, a Jacuzzi. He didn’t ride with me, but I bet he had a more interesting ride than the one I was in.

Few minutes later, I was at one of his houses. I walked in and saw a giant Chandelier, hanging from an elevated ceiling. Clothes, food, and my coffee had been prepared in the guest bedroom. The cold feeling of silk ran through my arms as I put on the shirt. And the warmth of coffee loosened my throat. Mr. Chris came in later and we began to talk. He asked if I was fine and if the food was good,I nodded and thanked him at least twenty times before he started talking again.Curiously I asked him what he was doing at Steven Incorporated this morning. He said that there was a file the he left there at the conference room storage when he visited on business. The guard wouldn’t let him in so he was stuck there until he bumped into me. So then he asked if I knew where to get it and to get it for him. I promised to get the file for him; I mean it was the least I could do to pay him back. I mentioned to him that I was now working for him as a joke, and he laughed too. He wanted to meet up with me tomorrow at lunch and then I could give him the file. So I agreed and came home.

THE USUAL

Today I walked into the office and directly to Mr. Tien’s office. And I was right, he didn’t do anything, and this doesn’t change any of my thoughts about him. I begged him and even said that I will take all of the cases in the next two months, but he refused. Why can a man be so inconsiderably stubborn? I also tried to persuade him to at the very least give me a 5% raise, again I was denied. He looked frustrated and annoyed,so I left. I was purely sad, I didn’t what to do. I sat at my desk semi-conscious,something had died in me.

I didn’t even have someone to talk to, the co-workers minded their own business and I couldn’t call anyone at work. My eyes swelled up, as I continued to finish my work. Now, as I write this entry, I’m using a worn out pen that I can barely even see the ink marks on the paper. Hope, the word rings in my ear, hope, there is none. I wish that I can work happily without worrying about adversities and the likelihood of me being fired, but it’s difficult. I have read optimistic articles from free newspapers to cheer me up, but none of them seemed to help.I guess I’m stuck in this condition for the next 40 years.

THE EXPOSITION

It’s been ten years since I started working for Steven Incorporated. They haven’t given me a single praise or raise. Every day I walk into the office and I ask myself, “What am I doing?” I am honestly the best employee in the company. I work twice as long as the other employees and they notice too. It feels as if Mr. Tien is purposely trying to hold me back for something, but he just happily minds his own business and ignores me. Today I asked Mr. Tien for a promotion, but he looked at me with disdain and keeps telling me how I am in the best position for the company. I’m not an idiot; I can tell when someone is sarcastic. What kind of nonsensical logic is that! You say that I am smart, or good for the job, and then don’t recognize me. I also told him that I really needed the money to pay for my rent and debt, but he declined. No one understands me; my life is dull, unfulfilled, and empty.

I get that being in sales is my profession, but my dream is to get an office of my own and at least become a manager of some sort. I get a better pay, a higher rank, and let’s face it, I am suitable for it. I wish that something will just magically happen, and I become what I am potentially capable of. I’m too good to be wasting my time in the lower class, there must be a change. I will perhaps ask Mr. Tien again to reconsider. He’ll probably say the same thing over and over again and waste my time. Why do I even bother asking him? Right, because mom said that there is always a little hope in every situation. I’ll try my best.
