Winning Big
THE EXPOSITION
It’s been ten years since I started working for Steven Incorporated. They haven’t given me a single praise or raise. Every day I walk into the office and I ask myself, “What am I doing?” I am honestly the best employee in the company. I work twice as long as the other employees and they notice too. It feels as if Mr. Tien is purposely trying to hold me back for something, but he just happily minds his own business and ignores me. Today I asked Mr. Tien for a promotion, but he looked at me with disdain and keeps telling me how I am in the best position for the company. I’m not an idiot; I can tell when someone is sarcastic. What kind of nonsensical logic is that! You say that I am smart, or good for the job, and then don’t recognize me. I also told him that I really needed the money to pay for my rent and debt, but he declined. No one understands me; my life is dull, unfulfilled, and empty.
I get that being in sales is my profession, but my dream is to get an office of my own and at least become a manager of some sort. I get a better pay, a higher rank, and let’s face it, I am suitable for it. I wish that something will just magically happen, and I become what I am potentially capable of. I’m too good to be wasting my time in the lower class, there must be a change. I will perhaps ask Mr. Tien again to reconsider. He’ll probably say the same thing over and over again and waste my time. Why do I even bother asking him? Right, because mom said that there is always a little hope in every situation. I’ll try my best.
